Pierre Serna is Professor of History of the French Revolution at the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne. His books include Antonelle: Aristocrat and Revolutionary; Like Beasts: Political History of the Animal in Revolution (1750-1840); and The Animal in the Republic, 1789-1802: Genesis of the Right of the Animals.
