History 101 Final Arrangements
April 12-19: no classes: one on one meetings. Final class meeting of semester: Thursday April 21st, Make sure you download "H101 Final Arrangements"

Topics chosen should address the relationship between war, state and society. Along with selected readings discussions will focus on research methods, note taking, evaluation of sources and writing strategies. A project prospectus will be required early in the semester. Students interested in taking this course should begin thinking about topics well in advance of the semester. Campus libraries have excellent archival resources for the study of twentieth century conflict.

Requirements
Brief oral presentations, short (1-3 pages max) writing exercises, term paper (c.7, 500 -8500 words/ 30 pages max, including notes and bibliography
Grading
Attendance and participation, including presentations 25% Final paper: 75%
Attendance
More than one absence without prior satisfactory notification may mean withdrawal from class.

Key Dates


1. Tuesday 10 February: 2 page statement of topic, thesis, biblio
2. Thursday 17 March: first draft
3. Monday 2 May absolute final deadline for thesis-hand in by 4pm history main office 3229 Dwinelle (see instructions above under  "Final Arrangements". Failure to hand in on time will result in serious grade penalty. 

Warning: failure to submit first and second drafts on time will impact on your grade. Monday 2 May is absolutely final and no late papers will be accepted.
