REQUIREMENTS

Required Readings:

A "Documents Reader" is available for purchase at Odin Readers, 2146 Center Street (Center and Oxford)

The following books are available for purchase at the ASUC Bookstore and Ned's. Copies have also been placed on 2 hour reserve at Moffitt:

Attendance

Attendance at all lectures is required; daily lecture outlines and lists of key words will be made available at the entrances to the lecture hall and afterwards through your section leaders. Attendance at your assigned sections is required; your section leader has the prerogative of requesting reasonable additional daily assignments, such as study questions and time-lines. Section attendance and participation count for 15% of your course grade (see below).

Exams

The Midterm Exam is on October 10: it consists of an "objective" quiz (identifications, chronologies, maps) plus essay questions (chosen from among questions handed out in advance).

Final Exam (Exam Group 19): Wednesday December 20th from 12:30-3:30 p.m.
The exam will consist of an "objective" quiz plus essay questions (as above).

Written Exercises

A short assignment consisting of 1) a map quiz and 2) a summary of a document will be due on Friday, September 8 at 4 p.m. in the History Department offices (3229 Dwinelle)

Two papers on topics to be assigned in advanced:
-Paper #1 (4-5 pages) is due Friday September 29 at 4 p.m. in the History Department offices (3229 Dwinelle);
-Paper #2 (4-5 pages) is due Friday November 17 at 4 p.m. in the History Department offices.

Grading

Your final grade, determined by your section leader, will be based roughly on the following percentages:
-map assignment and document summary (5%)
-section attendance and participation (15%)
-midterm (20%)
-final (25%)
-two papers (35%)
