Carson Wins Berkeley Collegium Award for Work with Data Science Education Program

Cathryn Carson, associate professor of history, has been named one of two recipients of the 2017 Berkeley Collegium Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Education for her work with the Data Science Education Program (DSEP). Carson, whose research focuses on the history of science, serves as operational lead for DSEP.

The Berkeley Collegium Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Education was established in 2014 to recognize an existing program, initiative, or unit on campus that has exceptional promise or a track record of success in promoting undergraduate education at UC Berkeley. The award is intended to recognize the aims or accomplishments of the program, initiative, or unit, as well as to provide funding (in the amount of $10,000) for continuing or expanding its efforts. In addition to Professor Carson, the Berkeley Collegium recognized Professor Victoria Robinson for her work with the American Cultures Engaged Scholarship (ACES) Program.
