Mariam Sabri

Research Interests:

I am training to be a social and cultural historian of South Asia with a focus on Muslim societies. Despite my focus on early modern South Asia, I maintain cross-temporal and trans-regional interests in Islam. I hope to enrich understandings of Muslim experiences and encounters by locating my work at the intersection of intellectual history, the history of ethics and the history of emotions. I received an M.A. in South Asian Studies from the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington and a B.A. in International Relations from Mount Holyoke College. For several years I worked as an administrator, and briefly as a lecturer, at Pakistani colleges and universities. I remain passionate about teaching and service in higher education and await future opportunities to work in these capacities.
