Donna Leary

Director

 

Ms. Leary has been Director of the UC Berkeley History-Social Science Project since 1996. She directs the 2006-2009 Mt. Diablo Unified School District Teaching American History Grant and partnered with the 2008-2011 Oakland Teaching American History Grant.

Phyllis Goldsmith

Co-Director & Academic Literacy Specialist

 

Ms. Goldsmith has been with the UCBH-SSP since 2003 as a consultant and academic literacy specialist. In 2008, she officially joined the UC Berkeley staff as Project Co-director. Ms. Goldsmith also holds the positions of the statewide literacy coordinator for the CHSSP and the UC Berkeley Instructional Liason to CAL Prep.

Lauren Weaver

Teaching American History (TAH) Grant Coordinator for MDUSD

 

Ms. Weaver coordinates the TAH Grant with the Mt. Diablo Unified School District and is responsible for the rigor of the grant. Before joining UCBH-SSP she taught high school history for eight years.

Carlos Noreña
Faculty Advisor to the Project

 

Professor Noreña is currently an assistant professor of history at UC Berkeley. His field is the politics and culture of the Roman Empire. Please visit his page at the History Department website. Professor Noreña advises UCBH-SSP on its historical content and liases with the UC Berkeley History Department.

Mark Peterson

Faculty Advisor to the Teaching American History Grant for MDUSD

 

Professor Peterson is an associate professor of history at UC Berkeley. His field is early American history. Please visit his page at the History Department website. Professor Peterson advises UCBH-SSP on its American history content to fulfill the mission of the Teaching American History Grant for the Mt. Diablo Unified School District.

Sarah Suponski

Project Assistant

 

Sarah joined UCBH-SSP in February 2008, after moving to California from Massachusetts where she received her M.A. in Medieval history at Tufts University. Please contact Sarah with general questions about the UCBH-SSP, logistics, and financial questions.
