Emily

Hours: Wednesday 1-3 pm

Field: Modern Asia

Courses Taken: 7B, 7A, 5, 178, 118C, 112B, 106A, 158C, 103F, 116D and 111B

I'm a fourth-year student, double majoring in History and Political Economy. As a freshman, I discovered my love for history in an American history survey class with Professor Einhorn, but my tastes now stretch around the world, especially in 20th-century Japan. My other passions at Cal include social justice and service learning with Alternative Breaks, studying public policy issues, and trying new things all around campus. I really look forward to helping you navigate the strange and wonderful world of UC Berkeley! Go Bears!

Charlotte

Hours: Thursday 1-3 pm

Field: Ancient Rome

Hi, I am a third year history major with a concentration in the Ancient worlds, and really specifically studying Ancient Rome. I was a Spring Admit to UC Berkeley and studied in the Fall Program for Freshman for the fall semester and becoming an official student in the Spring of 2010. I am also currently working on an Art History minor. Whilst my friends are working on their pre-med and such, I am absolutely loving every single class I take and study at UC Berkeley simply because I chose the history major route.

Jessica

Hours: Tuesday 1-3 pm

Field: America since 1607

Courses Taken: 4A, 7A, 7B, 5, 166B, 123, 122, 127, 103D, 118A and 151C

I'm a senior double majoring in English and History (not English History, though I love the Brits) here at Cal. My field of concentration is American history, so if anyone has questions concerning the Kansas-Nebraska Act or why Teddy Roosevelt was so amazing, I've got those areas covered. In more practical terms, I've studied abroad (in France, particularly) and I'm currently a senior staff member at the Daily Californian so I'm more than happy to offer advice regarding studying abroad, the history major itself, writing, etc. Please feel free to stop by and chat with me. I promise the conversation doesn't have to be about Teddy Roosevelt, but that subject is more than welcome.

Greg

Hours: Wednesday, Friday 10-11 am

Field: Early Modern Europe: Industrialization and Transformation

Courses Taken: 12, 2, 154, 7A, 20A, 112B, 118C, 151C, 123, 138 103B, 159A

I'm a senior, concentrating in industrialization and transformation in the early modern period. While my thesis will be concentrating economic developments in Early Modern Europe (specifically, on the Anglo-Dutch coal trade in the 17th and 18th centuries), I've taken a wide variety of history classes and am interested in learning and researching about history in general. If you have any questions about being a history major at Cal, or just want to talk about history, please come and talk.
