Carla Hesse, Jane K. and Peder Sather Professor of History, has been elected to the American Philosophical Society (APS), one of the nation’s oldest and most distinguished learned societies. Hesse joins five other newly elected members in Class 3: Social Sciences as part of the APS’s 2026 cohort. Election to the Society is a significant honor, recognizing extraordinary accomplishments across a wide range of disciplines spanning STEM and the humanities.
