Profile: 
Maggie Elmore is visiting lecturer at the University of California and a visiting fellow at the Center for Latino Policy Research. Her dissertation, "Claiming the Cross,," traces the shifting relationship between the US Catholic Church, the US federal government, Mexican Americans, and Mexican immigrants.
 
Her research and teaching interests include immigration history, Mexican American history, US Latina/o history, US civil rights history, Catholicism, and the history of race, religion, and politics.
