Research Interests:

I study early modern European intellectual history, with a focus on England from the Reformation to the Enlightenment. I am interested in changing conceptions of knowledge and practices of pedagogy among theologians and preachers, and their appropriation by philosophers and political economists. My research focuses on the history of "useful knowledge" from its elaboration in theological debates of the Reformation to its elevation in theories of political economy in the Enlightenment.
