Research Interests:

I research the determinants of inequality in the rise of European capitalism. My dissertation examines how three international financial crises--in 1720, 1793-97, and 1825--changed who could act with impunity in the emerging capitalist economy, and how. I also work on the political economy of economic development, the economic history of Atlantic empires, and the history of financial crisis.
