Meg Eppel Gudgeirsson earned her PhD in History at the University of California Santa Cruz. Her disseration "Perfect Child, Perfect Faith: Raising Children in Nineteenth-Century Religious Communities" looks at how religious communities saw child rearing as a key aspect to their survival. Her most recent publication “‘We do not have any Prejudice...but’: Racism in the Interracial Berea Literary Institute, 1866-1904,” was included in the fall 2020 issue of Ohio Valley History.
Dr. Gudgeirsson teaches courses in US history, with emphases on the Civil War era, children, race, and California history.
