Alexander Maurits

Alexander Maurits is an Associate Professor of Church History at Lund University, Sweden. In his research, Maurits investigates the connection between secularization, social and religious culture, and gender. He has written on Christian expressions of masculinity during the nineteenth century, religion and sports, the modernization of the clerical household, and the introduction of female pastors within Lutheran churches. During the fall semester of 2022, Maurits will be teaching at UC Berkeley thanks to a cooperation between the university and the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT).
