Research Interests

I am broadly interested in British settler colonialism in Kenya during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as migration and indenture in the modern Indian Ocean, labor history, and oceanic history. I have also conducted research on British military intelligence networks in South Africa, the imperial history of the early Scouting movement, and American industrial exhibitions.

I am currently writing a history of colonial Kenya and its connections to the western Indian Ocean through the lens of failed settlement schemes.
