We are excited to welcome Jason Muniz as the new Director of the UC Berkeley History Social Science Project. See below for Jason Muniz's description of the work HSSP does:

"Greetings!  I'm Jason Muñiz, the new director of the History Social Science Project, which is a unit within the History Department.  The UCB-HSSP works to support K-12 educators in the Bay Area with refining and reimagining their practices and pedagogies.  Project staff meet with teachers and school district personnel to provide professional development in History, and support them with curriculum development."

The Berkeley HSSP team, which is nearly entirely grant-funded, is part of a statewide network of educators doing this critical work. HSSP covers a wide range of periods, regions, and historical subject matter and works at making history engaging to diverse groups of learners. Jason, who earned his B.A. in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University, has many years of experience as a classroom teacher and department chair in Oakland and has been on the staff of the HSSP since 2019. HSSP boasts a long history of drawing upon UCB faculty energy and expertise to do its work, and we’re fortunate to have them in our department.
