November 15, 2018

Research Associate Alison Klairmont Lingo’s translation and edition, Louise Bourgeois, Midwife to the Queen of France: Diverse Observations (The Other Voice in Early Modern Europe: Toronto: Iter Press, 2017) has been awarded the Josephine Roberts Award for the best scholarly edition published in 2017 in the field of early modern women and gender. In awarding the prize, the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women (SSEMW) noted the importance of Lingo’s work as the first critical edition of Louise Bourgeois’s entire text in either English or French, calling it, “a go-to edition for those interested in early modern midwifery and medical terminology alone, as well as those interested in women’s writing and medical history.”
