Stephanie Jones-Rogers Wins Los Angeles Times Book Prize

Today, the Los Angeles Times Book Awards announced that Associate Professor Stephanie Jones-Rogers has won the 2019 Book Prize in History, for They Were Her Property: White Women as Slave Owners in the American South!

Jones-Rogers is the first African American to win an LA Times Book Prize for the History category, and the third woman. Congratulations to Jones-Rogers on this wonderful achievement. Of winning the LA Times Book Award, Jones-Rogers said: "In honoring my book, the judges recognized the value of telling stories which center Black lives. They acknowledge the importance of Black truths, and the significance of Black testimony."
