Early Modern Europe

Research Interests

My research focuses on early modern English Orientalist scholarship, the relationship between religion and 'Enlightenment,' and intellectual exchanges between Christian Europeans and early modern Muslim polities. My last project focused on the unexploited manuscript reports on Islam and politics written by John Finch, an English ambassador to the Ottoman empire during the late 17th century. I am also interested in the implications of early modern inter-religious and cultural contact for contemporary religious dialogue. I currently hold an M.A. in Theology and a B.A. in Global Studies, both from the University of Western Ontario.
