Elena Schneider Wins Bryce Wood Book Award

This month, the Latin American Studies Association awarded Elena Schneider the Bryce Wood Book Award for her title The Occupation of Havana: War, Trade, and Slavery in the Atlantic World. The Bryce Wood Book Award is presented to an outstanding book on Latin America in the social sciences and humanities written in English.” This prestigious award has also been awarded to faculty members Brian DeLay and Bill Taylor. 

 In addition to the Bryce Wood Book Award, Schneider’s The Occupation of Havana has also garnered the James A. Rawley Prize from the American Historical Association, the Murdo J. Macleod Prize from the Latin American and Caribbean Section (LACS) of the Southern Historical Association, and the FEEGI (Forum on European Expansion and Global Interaction) Book prize.
